ESTONIA: This month passenger operator Elron will begin its transition to a ticketing system developed by Tallinn-based Ridango to replace the current system dating from 2010.
The new system includes terminals for stations and vending machines for use on trains, and also supports online distribution. Contactless bank card payment will be accepted from the first half of 2018.
‘The new ticketing system will allow us to introduce a number of innovations and offer additional opportunities to make the purchase of tickets more convenient and flexible’, believes Elron CEO Andrus Ossip.
- Elron’s monthly ridership in July was up 4% year-on-year to 578 100 passengers, generating revenue of €1·14m. These were the highest monthly figures since the company was launched in 2013.
