JAPAN: Mermec has signed three contracts to provide advanced diagnostics for Japanese rail and metro networks.
The contracts worth more than €20m were signed at the Italian embassy in Tokyo on May 27, in the presence of Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti and representatives of Mitsubishi Electric, Sumitomo Corp, Mitsui & Co, Hitachi High-Tech, Japan International Co-operation Agency and the Asian Development Bank.
Mermec has had a subsidiary in Japan since 2017. ‘There are excellent, well-established relationships between Mermec and Japanese railway enterprises’, said Vice-President for International Affairs Angelo Petrosillo. ‘Our goal is to further expand these relationships by making Mermec’s experience and technology increasingly available to meet the market needs of local railway enterprises, thanks also to specific high-tech solutions to be developed directly in Japan.’
